Play Ball!

Finally, St. Louis is having weather that allows us to actually play our scheduled baseball games (we will ignore the fact that the high tomorrow

is 55 degrees!). Ford's baseball team got in their second game of the season today. It was beautiful outside and Virginia ventured off with all the little sisters but Jeb stayed close and cheered on the team. Ford got 3 hits (one that almost knocked Coach Schott in the head!) and played great! Here are a few pictures from today . . . enjoy!

JUMP!!

Ford's school participated in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart recently. His school raised over $24,000 -- more than any other school in the state of Missouri! A few students were selected from each grade to participate in a jump rope assembly for the entire school and parents/friends. Ford was selected to be a part of the assembly and did a great job jumping rope! Apparently, jumping rope, like many other things, has changed since I was a kid. It is no longer a simple activity! Now, kids do all sorts of crazy things while jumping rope -- the older kids even had themes and costumes for their routines. Needless to say, the kindergarten kids just focused on jumping over that crazy rope!!!!

Visitors

We love having visitors! Thankfully, we moved to a fun city for entertaining our friends and family. During spring break, our friends Brian and Ivey joined us for a few days of fun. Ford, Virginia and Jeb were so happy to have Thomas and Anna around. It was almost like old times in Birmingham!! Ivey just sent me some photos of the trip and so here they are. The kids loved the glass elevator at the St. Louis Science Center. They also had a blast running in the "hamster wheel"! And the zoo is always fun . . . especially when you get to chase a peacock!

Earthquakes

So, I've never had a desire to live in California for fear that I would fall off into the ocean during an earthquake. Well who knew that St. Louis was on a major fault line and that my first earthquake experience would occur in mid-America! I woke up at 4:38 this morning to shaking windows. Brent said it was just the wind and to go to sleep. Wow, were we surprised when we saw the news when we got up this morning. At 4:37am an earthquake registering 5.2 hit Mt. Carmel, IL and the shocks were felt in metro St. Louis. I wasn't crazy after all . . . I knew my windows had never rattled like that from wind! Needless to say, it was the talk of St. Louis today. We even got an e-mail from Ford's school assuring parents that they were prepared for earthquakes. Personally, I just hope the earthquakes and the SNOW stay away for a long time!

SPRING, finally!

Finally, I think spring has arrived in St. Louis (I'm almost scared to say that for fear that it will go away!). In the past week, the kids have actually been able to enjoy some quality outdoor time. Here are a few pictures of everyone enjoying the great outdoors . . . I'm even including Huck (our 10 month old boykin spaniel). We have had TONS of snow this winter and it has all been a little much for this Alabama girl! These show Ford, Virginia and Jeb enjoying some fun in the sun! There is also a shot of Ford and his friends at the Read, Right and Run Marathon that he participated in 2 weeks ago -- he ran 25 miles, read 26 books and did 26 good deeds in preparation to run the final 1.2 miles in Forest Park on the weekend of the Go! St. Louis Marathon. He was quite proud of himself. Jeb cheered him on from a perch on Brent's shoulders. This sunshine sure beats SNOW!

Go Cards!!!

I have never been a "baseball fan". However, St. Louis gives new meaning to that phrase! People here LOVE the Cardinals; therefore, we are learning to love them too. Last night, Ford's baseball team had the chance to go to Busch Stadium for a game and have a walk around the field. What an exciting day for 6 year old boys (and their excited dads!)!!

Embracing Technology!

Well, I have decided to embrace technology! We love sharing our day to day stuff with all of our friends and family but since moving, that means lots of e-mails to lots of people with lots of photos attached! I decided that a blog might be a better way to keep everyone up to date on all the latest happenings with the Balogh bunch! Then you can view (or not!) at your own discretion. I hope you enjoy and I hope I will keep up . . . I'm not very good with journaling or scrapbooking!
